Red Lick and other fire department and first responders rescue three-year-old child

Oct 23, 2018

Thanks to the help of communities and volunteers around Madison County and beyond, a three-year-old girl was rescued after going missing in Berea earlier this month.

In Madison Co., local residents gathered at a church to start the search for Eden Hines, who was thankfully found unharmed and safe after a community-wide search.

“I don’t think there was a dry eye in the hill. I think everybody was overcome with joy to find her OK,” said Sandgap Volunteer Fire Department Chief Lonnie Madden. “Everybody was so tore up, we couldn’t breathe. This is probably one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of.”

With assistance from the Kentucky State Police officers, at the end of the search and rescue, all involved felt a sense of pride, joy and humanity knowing they had a small part in returning a precious child back to her family; a remarkable job well done to all who helped return a young child home.
