The Kentucky Fire Commission is pleased to announce the Spring 2023 Recruit Class of The Kentucky Fire Academy. The Academy begins February 13 and will run through May 12.

Upon completion of the academy, the recruit will have met all requirements set forth by the kentucky fire commission to be eligible for a basic 2 certificate. Academy will involve daily physical training, hands-on training, and classroom training Monday-Friday, for 13 weeks. Pending successful completion of the written and skills exams, the recruit will also earn Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, Driver Operator Pumper, and Mobile Water Supply IFSAC certifications. Recruits are required to lodge on campus at the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center, located directly across from the NRPC, during the week. The Academy, including all meals and lodging, will be provided at no charge to Kentucky firefighters. This class will be open to career and volunteer departments. Priority will be given to registrants employed as a career firefighter. Volunteers must be sponsored by their department. Departments will be financially responsible for all expenses incurred at time of departure if a recruit does not complete the Academy. Applicants must have a valid cpat card.
