IFSAC Fee Changes
We would like to inform departments about important proposed changes to IFSAC accredited certification. As you are aware, the number of possible IFSAC certifications that firefighters can obtain has grown since the program’s inception. To ensure the ability to continue to offer these certifications, as well as additional new certifications, new fees for certification are planned to take effect July 1, 2026.
These fees will not apply to the following certifications that are required by law or regulation:
· Firefighter I
· Firefighter II
· Hazardous Materials Awareness
· Hazardous Materials Operations
· Fire Instructor I
· Fire Instructor II
· Live Fire Instructor
· Live Fire Instructor in Charge
The decision to introduce fees for elective certifications was not taken lightly. The goal is to ensure that we can continue to offer a full range of IFSAC accredited certifications to departments and individuals who are committed to professional development. The new fees will help offset some of the costs of materials, equipment and evaluators. The details of the new fee structure and the affected certifications will be shared shortly. Our goal is to provide ample notice so departments can plan accordingly.
We understand financial changes can pose challenges. Thank you for your support as we work toward solidifying the services we can offer departments and firefighters across the Commonwealth.
