IFSAC Driver/Operator - Aerial

This course is designed to educate Driver/Operators who are responsible for driving and operating department vehicles that are equipped with aerial devices.  This course is based upon the content of IFSTA Pumping and Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook 3rd Edition and meets or exceeds NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, 2017 edition.

 

PREREQUISITES & EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Class participants must possess IFSAC Accredited Firefighter I certification at the time of registration.

All class participants will need to obtain an IFSTA Pumping and Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook 3rd Edition prior to the class starting. Reading assignments and quizzes will be assigned for completion prior to the start of class. It is highly encouraged that students also purchase the study guide that goes along with the textbook.

 

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

An attempt at IFSAC certification is available the last day of class. Candidates will submit a completed application to the Kentucky Fire Commission and remit the prescribed written test sitting fee of $50, payable by fire department check or money order.

Upon successful completion of the written and skills exams, provided all documentation and fees are submitted, and prerequisites are satisfied, the candidate shall become eligible to receive an accredited certification from the Kentucky Fire Commission.

OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS

The Fire Commission welcomes students from outside of Kentucky to participate in the IFSAC Driver/Operator class series. Note that priority is given to in-state firefighters. Testing must be completed in Kentucky and accredited certification pre-requisites must be met.
