Virtual Instructor-Led Training

The Kentucky Fire Commission and State Fire Rescue Training offer virtual, instructor-led training (VILT) platform as an additional method to train firefighters.

VILT is conducted in real-time in a face-to-face platform via video camera. All participants must be visible on camera and attentive throughout each class. Proctors moderate throughout the class to ensure proper conduct of students and adherence to class rules.

Due to how the class is structured and conducted, Fire Commission VILT classes allow firefighters to attain hours toward Basic 1 and Basic 2 certifications.

The Fire Commission posts virtual training sessions on its Google Calendar. This calendar can be accessed directly through the link below:

https://kyfirecommission.kctcs.edu/news_and_events/current_events.aspx

Class information and instructions/links for logging in to the class will be available in the body of the event and are visible after clicking on the event link. Note that the training calendar defaults start times of all classes to Eastern time zone; the correct time zone the class will be held in is located in the body of the event information.

All participants will need a device with a camera (Computer, iPad, Tablet, Phone). Roll will be taken at the beginning of the class, at the return of any breaks, and at the end of class.

Training sheets will be emailed by the host of the training to the fire department the student lists on the training roster.
