IFSAC Fire Instructor II
This course prepares candidates with basic knowledge to perform at the Instructor II Level, as defined by National Fire Protection Association Standard 1041. This knowledge is necessary to develop skills for preparing and presenting training for personnel of fire and emergency services organizations. This course is based on the content in IFSTA Fire and Emergency Services Instructor 9th Edition.
PREREQUISITES & EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Class participants must possess IFSAC Accredited Fire Instructor I for a minimum of one year prior to the start of the class. To certify as a Kentucky Level II Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, candidates must be an active member on a fire department, degree program or recognized federal fire department in Kentucky, must be a certified firefighter (Kentucky Basic 1 or equivalent), and must possess IFSAC Accredited Kentucky (or IFSAC Accredited Kentucky Reciprocity) Fire Instructor I for a minimum of one year.
All class participants will need to obtain an IFSTA Fire and Emergency Services Instructor 9th Edition textbook prior to the class starting. Reading assignments will be assigned for completion prior to the start of class. It is highly encouraged that the students also purchase the study guide that goes along with the textbook.
CERTIFICATION PROCESS
An attempt at IFSAC certification will be available the last day of class in the form of skills and written testing. Candidates will submit a completed application to the Kentucky Fire Commission, and remit the prescribed written test sitting fee of $50, payable by fire department check or money order when taking the written exam.
OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS
The Fire Commission welcomes students from outside of Kentucky to participate in the IFSAC Fire Instructor class series. Note that priority is given to in-state firefighters. All testing must be completed in Kentucky and accredited certification pre-requisites must be met.
