Peer Support Training

The Kentucky Fire Commission offers Peer Support Training, led by the International Association of Fire Fighters. Held twice per year, this training is designed specifically for firefighters, EMS providers, dispatchers, chaplains, retirees, behavioral health specialists, and anyone interested in supporting firefighters during tough times.

Participants in this training learn to:

  • Develop Peer Teams for their fire depatment
  • Approch a firefighter of concern
  • Establish trust and confidentiality
  • Determine whether a crisis is developing
  • Refer the person to available resources

Dates and registration information for Peer Support Trainings will be announced via the Fire Commission's website and social media.
