Training Records

All fire departments recognized by the Kentucky Fire Commission are required to enter training records for all firefighters. Each department may have up to four authorized users of the Kentucky Fire Information and Records Entry System (KyFIRES).

Training for each firefighter is tracked and reflected on fire department records. These records are used to establish qualifications for participating in the Fire Commission's State Aid and Incentive & Pension programs, as well as continuing to be a recognized fire department in the Commonwealth.

Annual Training Requirements
  • Volunteer firefighters must receive a minimum of 20 hours of training per fiscal year
  • Paid firefighters must receive a minimum of 100 hours of training per calendar year

KyFIRES

KyFIRES allows active firefighters to securely access personal training and certification records through a web browser. These records may be printed via the KyFIRES platform.

Training records are updated in real-time as soon as entry of the record is complete.

Questions regarding the Training Records Program should be directed via email to kyfires@kctcs.edu or via telephone at (859) 256-3475.
